岡山県高梁市・成羽美術館で９月１７日から個展が始まるので、屋外正面入り口、メインとなる彫刻「進化と革新」を製作しています。

「進化と革新」
彫刻を支える９０mm厚、ステンレス。
表面溶接だけでは持ち堪えられないので、穴を開け差し込んで溶接されています。

彫刻を、９cm厚無垢の台座との接続版に差し込み溶接をして、初の自立です。
台座との接触は、最小サイズの点立ちで、浮遊感を演出します。
この場合重心は中心に集中し支えなしで自立しています。
この彫刻は台座と共に、正面からは、１本の線のように細く見えるように作りました。 The sculpture is inserted and welded to the connection plate with the 9 cm thick solid base, and it is the first self-standing.
The contact with the pedestal is the smallest point, creating a feeling of floating.
In this case, the center of gravity is concentrated in the center and stands on its own without support.
This sculpture, together with the pedestal, was made to look like a thin line from the front.

「進化と革新」
彫刻を、９cm厚無垢の台座との接続版に差し込み溶接をして、初の自立です。
台座との接触は、最小サイズの点立ちで、浮遊感を演出します。

「進化と革新」の台座です。
移動可能にするため、彫刻と台座を分離、現地で組み立てます。とステンレスにサンドブラスト仕上げです。
上部の彫刻の曲線に、呼応するように、台座はこれまでにないほどの曲線を多用しています。
台座としての役割を超えて、全体が一体化した彫刻となります。 It is a pedestal of "evolution and innovation".

The pedestal uses curves like never before, in response to the curves of the sculpture on top.

「飛翔ーII 時空を超えて」
幾度かの失敗を繰返して実寸３mの組み立てが完成。
失敗の原因は全て、計算、数式にして加工しようとしたことでした。
モデルからして適当に曲げて組み合わせたもので、計算しても辻綱が合わず、頭を抱えた工員さんに「感性で作るんですよ」と言ったのですが、顧客のニーズに応えるべく、厳密な作業をしてきた彼らにそのような言葉は初耳で、理解の外でした。
「いい加減」というのは製品作りではあってはならないことですが、アートにとっては根幹となる部分でもあります。
私自身かつて、コンパスと定規、数字と美の定理、色彩学に沿って仕事をしていましたが、それらに限界を感じ、以後一切の道具を使わず、感性と手作業のみにこだわり、製作をしてきました。
予定調和のない「適当」さの中に、予期しない無限の表現世界があり、作ることへの興味も尽きることなく湧いてきます。
